DELTA COUNTY REAL ESTATE

Delta County sits on the southwestern border of Mesa County, and also borders Gunnison County to the east and Montrose County to the south. In 1883, the county was named for the delta where the Uncompahgre River flows into the Gunnison River, and is home to 31,196 Coloradans according to the 2020 census. The county seat is the city of Delta, but the towns of Cedaredge, Crawford, Hotchkiss, Orchard City, and Paonia also make up the communities of Delta County.

Numerous conservation areas, national forests, parks, and trails can be found in Delta County; the Dominguez Canyon Wilderness, the Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area, the Grand Mesa National Forest, the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area, and the Gunnison Gorge Wilderness all have sectors located within the county’s boundaries, in addition to Crawford State Park and Sweitzer Lake State Park.

Despite its relatively small footprint of only 1,142 square miles, Delta County is easily traversed via 4 state highways and U.S. Highway 50.
