The city of Delta was incorporated in 1882 and is located in the East-Central part of Delta County, Colorado. It’s truly surrounded by natural beauty, with the Dominguez-Escalante National Conservation Area to its west, and the Gunnison Gorge National Conservation Area to its east. The United States Forest Service headquarters of the Grand Mesa, Gunnison, and Uncompahgre National Forests are located in Delta. One of the Colorado River’s largest tributaries, the Gunnison River, runs through Delta just slightly North of the central commerce area.

Despite the wilderness all around Delta, it’s far from isolated. Several major travel routes converge in Delta: State Hwy 92, State Hwy 348, State Hwy 65, and U.S. Hwy 50, which runs coast-to-coast from Maryland to California.

Delta is in the 81416 zip code and the area contains many wonderful parks with amazing mountain views. It’s also home to Devil’s Thumb Golf Course and Ultimate Skydiving Adventures, both located to the north of Delta’s central hub.

As of the 2020 United States Census, the population of Delta is 9,035. Schools in the area include: Delta Middle School, Delta High School, Garnet Mesa Elementary School, Lincoln Elementary School, Backpack Early Learning Academy School, Grand Mesa Choice Academy School, and Delta Academy of Applied Learning School.
